CAO 2026 Dates to Remember

Things to Remember & Do – and How to Think Ahead Financially

The CAO journey can feel like a marathon for students and parents alike. Between deadlines, course choices and exam pressure, it’s easy to forget one very practical question – how will we fund the years ahead?

To help you stay on track, here are the key CAO dates to remember, along with a reminder of how Synergy Credit Union can support your education plans.

Key CAO Dates at a Glance

20 January – Early online CAO application deadline (€35 fee)

1 February – Normal closing date for applications

5 February – Online facility opens to amend course choices (€10 fee)

15 February – Paper applications / mature student course statements

1 March – Closing date for late applications

  • Closing date for HEAR/DARE supporting documentation
  • Closing date for amending course choices
  • Final completion of online HEAR

5 March – Late application facility opens

10 March – Latest date for HEAR/DARE documentation to arrive

6 May – Change-of-mind window opens (free)

1 July – Change-of-mind window closes

Missing a deadline can mean missing an opportunity, so it’s worth putting these dates in the diary early

Think Ahead – Planning for the Cost of College

While course offers arrive in August, college costs don’t wait. Registration fees, accommodation, laptops, books and day-to-day living expenses can quickly add up.

That’s why at Synergy Credit Union, we encourage families to think ahead.

  • Competitive rates
  • Flexible repayment options
  • Local, personal service you can trust
