National Heritage Week 2025 brings communities across Ireland together through history, culture, and nature. In the Fermoy, Cork area, the week will feature guided tours, family-friendly activities, heritage walks, craft demonstrations, and engaging heritage talks. These events encourage us to discover, understand, and preserve our local heritage. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply curious about things to do in Fermoy this August, from Saturday 16 to Sunday 24 August 2025 there’s something for everyone—right on your doorstep.

Doneraile (Doneraile Court)
What’s happening: Special guided tours of the historic Doneraile Court by the Irish Heritage Trust.
Note: Doneraile Court is included among OPW heritage sites offering free admission on Saturday, 17 August, plus guided tours available during the week.

River Bride – Paddling the Past: A Heritage Kayak Tour of the River Bride
What’s happening: Guided heritage kayak tour highlighting the river’s biodiversity and cultural significance, as well as the importance of preserving waterways.
Tour of Richmond House & Fermoy’s Secret Garden
Dates: 16–17 August, 10 am–4 pm
Location: Richmond House, College Road, Fermoy, Co. Cork (P61 T292)
Details: Explore a handsome late-Georgian/Regency Italianate-style home (built 1837) with deep historical ties, including its view of the 1922 burning of the British barracks. Meet the resident animals—goats Liam & Noel, Soay sheep Lucy & Eunice, and “fancy fowl” including Lady Clucksworth, Eggatha Christie, and Hennifer Aniston. Perfect for families.
